School is over for the summer, thus no schedule at this time. New appointments are being pursued for the fall session which is coming up soon. Dates and times TBA. We have had another successful past year in MANATEE and SARASOTA COUNTY schools. Sign up as a volunteer at our August meeting, or notify: Frances Brathwaite, Don Thompson or Trudy Pratt if you are interested.

Ask the politicians the hard questions before giving them your vote in the up-coming election to be held on TUESDAY the 24th of AUGUST, 2010.

November 18 - 21, School of Americas demonstration - Demonstration begins at 10:00 AM at the gates of Ft. Benning in Columbus Georgia (Call Russ Banner for information) This is a yearly event held to close the School of Americas also known as WHINSEC which is sponsored by our military and financed by our government to train subversives to overthrow their governments in Latin America.

Every Friday in Sarasota - Silent Peace Vigil organized by Southwest Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice. This is held between 4:00 - 5:00PM at the Sarasota Bayfront (near marina Jack's). Signs, flags, all supporters of peace welcome and encouraged to attend. This vigil has been a constant for over 7 years.
Every Friday in St. Petersburg - The St. Petersburg Friends (Quakers) sponsors a picnic and sharing of food beginning at 7:00PM each Friday in Williams Park at the corner of 2nd Ave. N and 4th St. in downtown St. Petersburg. For more information call (727) 647-6929
Friday Picnic and Sharing in Sarasota - Sarasota Food not Bombs serves food at Five Points Park near Selby Library in downtown Sarasota. The picnics start at 6:00 PM on Fridays. You can participate by cooking and bringing food, or serving in the food line. Everyone welcome. This group is comprised mainly of New College students who have been involved for many years in helping to feed the homeless and unfortunates. They are to be commended for their fortitude.
